Donegal County Council has given the green light for a number of developments at the holiday site, which boasts 27 coastal lodges.

The resort’s existing sports hall is set to be converted to create nine new apartments. An extension will create a covered outdoor gym, while a conversion and extension of the basement will create a spa facility.

The upgrade will also include staff facilities and a reception.

Donegal County Council has granted planning permission for the development on a conditional basis.

Donegal Board Walk resort comprises a total of 45 acres, with much of that undeveloped at present.

The resort changed hands in 2021 when it was sold to the Melcorpo property group for more than  €3.8M. The resort includes a fully-licensed seafront bar, restaurant and function room and adjoins the 1km boardwalk to link to Tramore Beach.
