GAA: McBrearty starts as Paddy Carr names his side to face Monaghan

Donegal captain Paddy McBrearty has been named in Donegal boss Paddy Carr’s for today National League game against Monaghan in Clones.

The Kilcar man emerged as an injury doubt earlier this week after he picked up a niggle against Tyrone two weeks ago.

But Donegal fans will be delighted to see McBrearty named on the starting sheet for today’s game.

Monaghan are currently bottom of the table but will be hoping to open their account today.

Carr will be hoping to get back to wining ways after their last outing when they never got out of the starting blocks against Tyrone.

That game was a contrast to Donegal’s battling qualities they showed against Kerry in the league opener at MacCumhaill Park.

It was the captain McBrearty who popped up with a fine late point to help his side over the line and to claim all three points against Jack O’Connor’s men.

The Donegal side is: Shaun Patton, Mark Curran, Brendan McCole, Caolan Ward, Caolan McColgan, Stephen McMenamin, Jamie Grant, Caolan McGonagle, Jason McGee, Johnny McGroddy, Daire Ó Baoill, Conor O’Donnell, Hugh McFadden, Patrick McBrearty and Jamie Brennan.
