March 8, 2023

A man caught drug-driving in Letterkenny has been put off the road.

On May 2, 2021, Garda Paddy Ryan observed Daniel Nowakowski at Killyclug, Letterkenny.

Nowakowski was stopped and Garda Ryan formed the opinion that he was driving under the influence of
an intoxicant.

Nowakowski was arrested and taken to Letterkenny Garda Station, where a subsequent blood test
confirmed the presence of cannabis in his system.

Nowakowski, a 30-year-old of Meadowbank Park, Letterkenny, was before this week’s sitting of
Letterkenny District Court.

Solicitor for Nowakowski, Mr Frank Dorrian, said his client had suffered a very serious accident which
gives rise to ‘unrelenting pain’.

Nowakowski, a father-of-four, works part-time as a kitchen porter and has no previous convictions.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham disqualified Nowakowski for one year andf fined him €200.
