A man who who assaulted another man after entering a Castlefin house via a kitchen window has been
handed 120 hours of community service.

Two children, who were aged nine and four, were present when Vladimir Okuril climbed through an open
window of the kitchen on October 15, 2020.

Okuril refused to leave after gaining entry to the house at Emmet Park in Castlefin at 3.30pm.

Okuril, aged 35 and of Market House, The Diamond, Castlefin, was before Letterkenny District Court on
charges of assault and trespass.

Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that another man intervened following a struggle. The man received
bruising, but did not require medical attention.

Okuril, who has no previous convictions, was arrested by Gardai.

Solicitor Mr Patsy Gallagher said ‘the red mist came down’ and added that his client made admissions
when arrested.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham said the experience must have been frightening for the children who were
present.

On each charge, Judge Cunningham directed 60 hours of community service in lieu of two months
imprisonment. With the sentences concurrent, Okuril must undertake 120 hours of community service.
