Six One News presenter Caitríona Perry has announced that she is leaving RTE to join the BBC.
The well-known journalist is leaving the station after 16 years.
Perry will take up a new role with the BBC as a Washington-based news chief presenter.
Ms Perry has co-presented RTÉ Six One News for the past five years and covered some of America’s biggest news events as the station’s Washington Correspondent between 2013-2018.
Ms Perry said she was leaving with “a mix of sadness and excitement”
“I wish my current Six One partner David Mc Cullagh, all in the newsroom and the wider RTE family the very best for the future,” she said.
A new co-presenter of the RTÉ Six One News is expected to be announced shortly.
