In challenging conditions Marc Wallace won the Wild Atlantic Challenge which took place over the weekend of the 6th and 7th May 2023. Marc won the 25km trail race in a remarkable time of 2:18.00.

Hickey Clarke and Langan kindly sponsored the Letterkenny Inter-Firms 5km road race which took place on Thursday evening, the 10th May.

Congratulations to all category winners including LAC member Michael Harkin who was part of the Saint Eunan’s College team which finished in 2nd place. Michael crossed the line in 17:41.

A fine performance by Barry Mackey winning the over 60s category finishing in 19:10.

On Saturday the 13th May club member Naoise Enright took part in a gruelling adventure race, the Wild Atlantic Adventure Race better known as WAAR. Well done Naoise.

Also on on the 13th May was the Belfast Milers Meet.

In a remarkable performance Nakita Burke finished in 2nd place in the 3000m.

Ryan Canning and Eoin Kelly competed in the 400m. Both achieved personal best times of 49:48 and 49:81. Both athletes ran the 400m in under 50 seconds.

Superb performances by Ryan and Eoin.

Darragh Naughton competed in the 1km at the same event.

Well done to club member Paul Caulfield who finished in 9th place in the Craughwell 5km in Galway crossing the line in a time of 17:03.

LAC meets Tuesday at 6.30pm for an interval running session, Thursday evening for a hill run at 6pm, Saturday morning at 9.30am for a tempo run and Sunday morning at 8am for a long run.

All runs start at the Aura. All levels catered for and encouraged.

Fit 4 Life which is run by LAC in conjunction with the Donegal Sports Partnership takes place every Monday at 5.45pm on the track at the Aura Leisure Centre Letterkenny.

The aim of the programme is to reach out to those who wish to improve their fitness and all are most welcome any Monday they chose to attend.

Fit 4 Life is not about speed but fitness and the coaches from LAC particularly welcome newcomers.
