Members of the Letterkenny/Milford Municipal District were delighted to confer a Civic Honour on Paddy McShane yesterday at a reception held at Letterkenny Public Services Centre.

The award is in recognition of Paddy’s outstanding achievements as a young amateur boxer, winning 30 titles in total at underage level from 2014 to 2018.  He has also won the Irish Elite Flyweight Championship 2021, aged 18, and the Ulster Elite Featherweight Championship in 2022, aged 19.

Paddy is the first man to win the Elite Championship with the local Letterkenny Boxing Club in 39 years.

Cllr Donal Mandy Kelly, Mayor Letterkenny Milford Municipal District congratulated Paddy on his success and acknowledged the important role model that he has become to the young people in the community.

Cllr Kelly commended Paddy’s parents, Mandy and Rory and said that they should be very proud of their son Paddy.
