Raphoe Family Resource Centre
Raphoe Family Resource Centre provides computer and internet access, photocopying, CV preparation and weekly employment lists via email. If you need any help on these areas, please call in to us or give us a call. Raphoe Men’s Shed
The Men’s Shed group meets every Thursday at 12 Noon in “The Shed”. If you have a few hours to spare why not come along and join in! Family Support
As a parent or guardian, parenting is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. However, the Family Resource Centre recognises at times life throws up challenges and these can be overwhelming. Some examples of the support we can offer; making routines, establishing boundaries and dealing with challenging behaviours.
The Family Resource Centre can help through listening ear, parenting programmes, one to one support, and a drop-in clinic to offer support on issues that are affecting home life. Youth Support Worker – CE scheme conditions apply
Donegal Youth Service are looking to recruit a youth Support Worker for the Family Resource Centre, Raphoe 19.5 hours per week, applicants must be 21 years and over and 1 year unemployed/receipt of a social welfare payment. Raphoe Walking Group
Raphoe Walking Group will continue to meet every Thursday morning at 10.30am, here in the FRC during the summer period. Come along and join the group for a walk and a cuppa!!
Seniors Alert Scheme
Raphoe Family Resource Centre is registered under Pobal’s Senior Alert Scheme to provide personal alarms to those over 65 years living alone for significant periods of time during the day, or is a carer to someone else in their household. The purpose of the scheme is to enable older persons of limited means to continue to live securely in their own homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind providing them with a free personal monitored alarm which can be worn as a pendant or around their wrist like a watch. S.T.A.R.T Project
Would you like to talk to someone about your concerns around drugs/alcohol? Free, confidential – non-judgemental service providing up to date information and practical supports, including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness practices, Brief Solution Focus Therapy and the Smart Recovery Principles. Drop in Group/Individuals every Monday 10am-12pm in the Raphoe Family Resource Centre. Letterkenny C.D.P is a community Development Project providing a Community Response to Alcohol/Drug misuse throughout Donegal. Raphoe Tidy Towns Appeal 2023
The Application for Raphoe Tidy Towns 2023 is presently being completed for submission. We need your help for our town for this year’s Tidy Towns Competition. Judging is usually during June, July and August.
Now is the time to get ready, so during May and June, please help us by keeping your area litter free by:
- Removing weeds or overgrowth from boundary walls
- Painting your homes/properties & Tidying your Gardens
- Keeping green areas well mown and tidy
- Putting out hanging baskets or window boxes
- Respecting Wildlife & Recycling your waste
- Cleaning up derelict buildings or sites
- Making financial donations, Donating paint, flowers or shrubs for the town

Raphoe Tidy Towns Local History Project
Do you have any old photos of the town or surrounding district? Any subject matter will be welcome to be part of the towns collection. Subjects such as weddings, community days/activities, individuals, sporting events, school photos, farming, bands, Christmas, snow, or any subject. Original photos will be scanned/copied and returned. Please call in and ask for Hilary on Mondays, Thursdays 9.30am until 4pm or Fridays. 9.30am until 3.30pm. Community Room Volt House
The community room is available free to local groups or individuals at the Volt House Raphoe. The room is ideal for groups to hold meetings. This room has been kindly funded by local businesses and may be booked via reception. For further information please telephone Reception on 074 9173966.
RCIA is hosting an Irish Night in the Suile Centre, Raphoe on Friday June 30 th from 8pm, Music by Martin Doogan, admission is €8 and includes supper. Everyone Welcome.
Earagail Arts Festival
The Earagail Arts Festival has announced its line-up for this year. The festival will run from the 8 th to 23 rd July, and for the first time as part of the Wild Atlantic Weekend. There will be some great events taking place in Raphoe on Thursday July 13 th to Saturday July 15 th. Three days of Street Arts and Circus, suitable for all ages. Events such as hammer smashing Belfast inspired Circus – Death defying aerialists, hard-core acrobats and mind bending jugglers. Lorenzo Baronchelli will be appearing in the Diamond, on Saturday July 15 th at 1pm and 3pm, “the only copper in the world that can create a traffic jam in the desert!”. The Big Top will be at Raphoe Royal & Prior School also from Thursday 13 th until July 15 th with a wide array of events, workshops and fun! Copies of the Earagail Arts Festival Brochure can be collected in the Volt House.
Michael Cunningham Walk for Alzheimer’s
In 1947 Vincent Hamilton, a Raphoe man, left for Scotland with two of his brothers (Jack and Dick) to find work. Sadly, he passed this year suffering from Alzheimer’s at the age of 94. He raised seven children, and one of his 12 grandchildren – Michael Cunningham – is walking the reverse journey in memory of his beloved granddad and to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Scotland. His journey started at Vincent’s home in Cardenden, Fife, on Saturday 10 th June, and he expects to arrive in Raphoe on Saturday 17 th June around lunch time when he will complete the journey in Irish Street at his grandfather’s home.
Raphoe Boxing Club
The boxers, coaches and officials extend good wishes for every success to standout 35 Kilo Puncher the “Blonde Bomber” Taylor Parke. He will fly the flag for Donegal on Saturday next at the national junior cadet championship finals in Dublin. Taylor will face Armagh’s evergreen Donnacha Beagan and if he comes up trumps then it will be his second national championship title in a matter of 8 weeks having secured the national Boy3 title in early April.
Everyone at the Club tender good wishes to Jason Quigley and Raphoe coach Gary McCullagh who travel to New York on Monday next where Jason will headline a major show in Madison Square Gardens on 24 th June. Good wishes gents from all in the Raphoe club.
