Around 70 cyclists from across Donegal will take on a marathon journey this weekend in memory of Seamus McGinty from Drimarone, outside Donegal Town who passed away in 2021 after a short illness.

The cyclists will travel from west County Dublin near Leixlip on Friday morning to Drimarone to arrive back on Sunday afternoon around 4pm.

The group are fundraising with the majority of proceeds going to Patient Comfort at the Oncology Unit at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Other contributions will alsoi be made to Letterbarrow Celtic FC and Drimarone Development Association.

There is a mixture of experienced and inexperienced cyclists taking part.

Many of the group hail from Drimarone and surrounding areas with people also taking part from Letterkenny, Carrick, Killybegs, Ardara, Glenties, Mountcharles, Frosses, Donegal Town and Laghey.

There are also people living in Dublin, Kilkenny, Meath, London and Philadelphia also taking part.
