A charity climb of Errigal Mountain is being organised in memory of one of Letterkenny’s most loved characters.

Liam ‘Gutcha’ Haughey passed away earlier this year on March 1st leaving a huge impact of those who loved him.

Now Liam’s son Lee is organising the climb which takes place on Sunday 1st October 2023 at 10am.

He hopes the event will allow people to remember his wonderful dad but also to raise awareness of suicide.

Lee said “We hope that we can raise awareness about suicide and remember Liam as the caring, genuine and honest man he was. We would love if you could join us, everyone is welcome.”

He added “Liam’s family are extremely grateful to DMRT and Sheephaven SAC for the compassion and professionalism shown as they assisted in the search and recovery on that tragic day in March and now wish to raise much needed funds to these organisations. Donations will be shared equally between Donegal Mountain Rescue and Sheephaven Sub Aqua Club.”

All those who wish to take part are encouraged to park at the Dunlewy Centre and a shuttle bus will be provided. Refreshments will be available afterwards.

If you would like to donate in any way to this wonderful cause, to remember Liam and to help two very worthy charities please see https://www.gofundme.com/f/errigal-climb-in-memory-of-liam-gutcha-haughey
