Gardai are investigating a link between FOUR burglaries at premises across Inishowen overnight.

There were break-ins to a number of private homes and businesses at Redcastle, Moville and Burnfoot.

Garda Sergeant Eunan Walsh said detectives are at the scene of a number of the burglaries and are examining if there is a link between all four or some of the crimes.

The first incident occurred at Cooley, Moville between 9pm last night and 7am this morning. The CCTV wires at a house were cut and entry was gained to a shed at the property. A substantial amount of tools were stolen from the shed.

If anybody observed any suspicious activity/vehicles in that area overnight or if they have any relevant information, Gardai are asking them to make contact with Gardaí in Buncrana on 074-9320540.

Also in Moville, Gardaí are investigating a burglary that occurred at Carrownaffe (located on the R238 on the way into Moville) between 6pm last night and 8am this morning.

The door of a business at that location was forced open and a diagnostic computer was stolen. There may have been other items stolen but it is unknown at this time.

“We appeal to anybody who may have observed suspicious activity in that area overnight to make contact with Gardaí in Buncrana on 074-9320540,” said a spokesperson.

Meanwhile, in Clar, Redcastle in the early hours of this morning at approximately 4.45am, a resident in a house heard an intruder. They went to check around the property but the intruder was gone. A rear window had been breached and entry had been gained.

A number of items were disturbed within the house and a purse containing bank cards had been stolen.

“If anybody observed any suspicious activity/vehicles in the area overnight we ask them to contact us. If anybody can assist with relevant information please contact Gardaí in Buncrana on 074-9320540.”

Gardaí are also investigating a burglary that occurred at Drumadooey, Burnfoot in the early hours of this morning.

At approximately 1.10am the resident of a house in that area heard noises and became aware that someone had entered their house downstairs. They immediately called a neighbour. When the neighbour arrived the intruder had gone. A downstairs window had been opened and entry was gained.

Items had been moved and drawers had been searched but nothing had been taken.

A Garda spokesperson added “We appeal to anybody who may have observed suspicious activity in that area overnight to make contact with us. If anybody travelled in the Burnfoot area between 12.30am and 2am who had a dash cam, we ask them to make the footage available to us. Any relevant information may be passed to Gardaí in- Buncrana on 074-9320540. The Garda Confidential line may be reached on 1800 666 111.”
