Council to ‘take on’ landowners over thorny hedge cutting issue

The thorny issue of roadside hedge cutting was again raised at yesterday’s Lifford-Stranorlar MD.

Councillor Patrick McGowan said he had the same people ringing him every year about ‘the same hedges’ that were still not cut in east Donegal.

“Why is the council not being more proactive? Most farmers cut their hedges, but others don’t,” he said.

In response, council engineer Adrian McCool said Cllr McGowan had raised a ‘good point.

“Maybe members (councillors) could contact us with information and we can compile a list and we could take them (landowners) on,” he said.
