National: Farmer killed in freak accident with tractor

A farmer has been killed following an incident involving a tractor on his farm.

The man, who was in his 60s, died at his family farm at Galbally in Co Limerick.

Gardaí and paramedics attended the scene and a report is to be compiled for the coroner’s office.

The accident happened yesterday afternoon.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are also to carry out an investigation.

A statement from gardaí confirmed the man’s death, adding that his remains have been take to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, “where a post-mortem will take place in due course”.
