A match made in Donegal! Couple gets engaged at fairytale location

A young American couple’s Donegal romance has come full circle with a magical proposal in Bundoran.

Kirsten Quinn, a student from Birmingham Southern College in Alabama, and Andrew Pidhorodeckyj, a student from Drew University in New Jersey, first met in 2017 while participating in a study abroad program with the Institute Of Study Abroad Ireland in Bundoran.

Sparks flew during those two weeks. When the couple returned to the USA, they kept in touch, and friendship quickly developed into a long term relationship as they both finished their undergraduate programs. But true love knows no borders or barriers. They fell in love, and seven years later they returned to their beloved Bundoran.

Andrew planned a romantic proposal surprise at the iconic Fairy Bridges. The Fairy Bridges overlooking Tullan strand are said to possess mystical powers, and the nearby Wishing Chair is believed to grant wishes to those who make them wisely.

Andrew’s wishes certainly came true… as Kirsten said yes!

Kirsten and Andrew’s romantic adventure began in Bundoran in 2017

Andrew and Kirsten’s friends at the Institute of Study Abroad were overjoyed to witness the special moment and help ensure the proposal went smoothly.

The happy couple returned to the Institute of Study Abroad to say thanks to Niamh and John for bringing them together, saying that Donegal will always be the place they will forever associate with happiness and love.

“We could not be happier for this wonderful couple, and we were delighted to be co-conspirators in the surprise!” said the Institute team, adding, “Comhghairdeas agus beir bua!”

Congratulations to the happy couple!
