Further calls for works on Rahan/Lisjack junction after weekend accident

Calls have been made yet again on Donegal County Council to address the Rahan/Lisjack junction outside Letterkenny.

A number of crashes and close calls have taken place at the junction in recent times, which according to locals is due to a lack of road markings as well as insufficient signage.

The route is a popular backroad between Letterkenny and Drumkeen.

This afternoon two cars collided at the junction, requiring emergency services to attend and leaving the Rahan road blocked for some time.

Last month, a car skidded off the road at the same junction, ploughing into a field.

Local Aontu representative Mary T Sweeney said on social media that the accident today was in part also due to a broken yield sign at the junction.

“People new to the area do not realise, with no road markings, that there is a busy junction,” Sweeney stated.

“This road has become extremely dangerous and our Council needs to address this increase in traffic for the safety of all road users.”
