A Donegal-based bar has won a prestigious IMRO Live Music Venue award.
McCafferty’s Bar in Donegal Town won the Ulster section of the Live Music awards, mentioned in the same breath as famous Irish venues such as Vicar Street which were also given awards last night.
The awards aim to celebrate venues that deliver the very best in live entertainment, with venues being judged on their “ambience, staging, sound/lighting facilities, diversity of music programming, accessibility for people with disabilities, venue staff and management and the work they undertake in promoting the venue and its programme of music events.”
The overall winner at the awards was The Imperial Bar in County Cavan.
Eleanor McEvoy, IMRO Chairperson said of the awards, “I’m delighted for these well deserving winners this evening. They are the life blood of the Irish music industry, providing the means, the ambiance, and the environment to hear music the way it is truly meant to be heard – live on stage in front of an appreciative audience.”
