Finn Valley College were the winners of the Corn Sheáin Uí Longáin Comórtas Foirne Team Event for a record 7th time on February 17th last in challenging weather conditions.

We were delighted to be joined on the day by Seán Ó Longáin, who made the presentations, and his wife, Eileen.

Rory White and Paddy McDaid (AKA McIlroy & Harrington) secured the Cup with a combined score of 47pts.

Tommy Greally & John Bosco Gallagher finished 2nd with 45pts.

3rd place went to Danny Conaghan & Tommy O’Neill on 43pts.

Unfortunately, Rory and Paddy were unable to stay for the presentations as they had to dash off to Longford for the Finn Harps match (it turned out to be a double celebration for the boys as Harps secured a 3-2 victory after being 2-0 down!).

Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive for Ladies went to Society Captain, Elaine Russell and Nearest the Pin (Gents) was won by Jim McGlynn and the Longest Drive by Paddy McDaid.

In the Singles Stableford event for Golfer of the Year, Paddy McDaid also came in first place with 38pts. Éanna Ó Mainín was 2nd on 37pts followed by Aidan Guthrie on 34pts.

After 4 events in the Golfer of the Year, Éanna Ó Mainín leads the way with a very impressive score of 74pts. Paddy McDaid is in 2nd place with 53pts and Tommy O’Neill is in 3rd place on 51pts.

In the Magnificent 7 Signature Hole competition, Éanna Ó Mainín has moved to the top on 10pts. Aidan Guthrie is in 2nd place on 9pts followed by 3 players on 7pts.

Special thanks to all in Cruit Island Golf Club for hosting us and for their hospitality on the day.

Our next outing takes us to Portsalon Golf Club on Saturday, 9th March where we will compete for the President’s Prize in honour of Donegal ETB Chairperson, Cllr. Dónal Coyle.
