The Lifford Common project will include a mix of one and two-bed apartments and houses ranging from two, three and four beds. Construction is expected to begin this year on the greenfield site located along the N14, Lifford to Letterkenny Road.

The development has been designed to provide sustainable, well designed, low energy, low maintenance social homes, which will be set within a high quality landscaped public realm, with well-designed landscaped open green space.

An additional 30 social houses have been approved as part of phase 3 of the existing Cois Abhainn social housing scheme in St Johnston. The development will include a mix of one and two-bed apartments and houses ranging from two, three and four beds. The council plans to develop 1.5 hectares as phase 3 and retain 1.42 hectares for future development. A council report said “The scheme will enhance the character and quality of the phases 1 and 2 of the Cois Abhainn estate along with the surrounding area and provide a high quality and sustainable housing scheme under the Government’s Housing for All Plan.”
