Donegal music stars to shine in Other Voices ‘Anam’ special

Ballybofey breakout star Muireann Bradley and Letterkenny native Claire Kinsella have been announced in the line-up of a very special series of Other Voices.

The hit RTE music show is partnering with the Office of Public Works (OPW) and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage to produce a live music series: Anam, filmed at four prestigious Irish heritage sites.

It’s been revealed that Muireann Bradley will be performing in the first episode at Ormond Castle, Tipperary.  The teen musical sensation grew up steeped in country and blues music. Delving into ragtime, folk blues and roots, the finger picking guitar player and singer appeared on Jools’ Annual Hootenanny on New Year’s Eve. Following her appearance on the show, her album I Kept These Old Blues entered the top ten of the UK Albums Download Chart and she has racked up millions of views on YouTube. She credits her father for introducing her to the genres on her first record.

Claire Kinsella, who is one half of folk duo Lemoncello, will be taking to the stage at Parke’s Castle in Leitrim in episode four on 30th May.

Lemoncello

Lemoncello have recently signed to iconic label Claddagh Records, sharing the news alongside their new single ‘Harsh Truths’. Laura Quirke and Claire Kinsella will release their first album on a roster of incredible artists who are also credited with the recent trad/folk revival, such as Niamh Bury and ØXN. Lemoncello are known for charming their listeners into an enigmatic world of intimate observations and uncomfortable questions paired with their chemistry and charisma. The rare alchemy of the duo’s voices together pairs with the warmth and grit of Kinsella’s cello, underpinned by Quirke’s cyclical, trance-like guitar playing.

Each episode of Anam will be streamed across the world via the YouTube and Facebook platforms of Other Voices and the OPW. Beginning at 8pm on 9 May, the series, presented by MayKay, aims to celebrate established musicians and newly discovered acts.

The eclectic lineup boasts many more Irish rising stars, from Waterford’s breakout pop act Moncrieff, Dublin polymath Uly and AWAL-signed viral sensation Sarah Crean to the ferociously creative EFÉ.

A limited number of golden tickets to experience these unique performances will be available via the Other Voices Anam public lottery, and additional tickets will also be made available through competitions in the coming weeks.

Pre-save this livestream link to enjoy the global broadcasts from 8pm each Thursday from 9 May until Thursday 30 May.
