A young mother and baby had a lucky escape after another serious incident at a notorious junction outside Letterkenny.
Their Skoda car plunged through a hedge and ended up in a field at the junction at Lisjack on the backroad between Letterkenny and Drumkeen.
Luckily, both escaped unhurt but were extremely shaken following yesterday’s incident.
It is the latest in a series of similar incidents at the same junction.
Locals report that there is not a week that passes when cars coming from the Drumkeen direction do not end up in the field after coming of the road.
Local resident and election candidate Mary T Sweeney again appealed to the council to have the junction examined and safety precautions put in place.
She spoke to the young mother and her child and said that thankfully both appeared to be unhurt.
But she asked “What is it going to take for the council to come and redesign this lay-out? It’s just too dangerous.”
