Racing to resume at Carndonagh tomorrow

Tomorrow sees the new horse and pony season get underway at Carndonagh, adjacent to the Gaelic grounds with a 2pm start.

The scene has become a fantastic academy for up and coming young jockey’s over the years.

Local stars Patrick McGettigan (below), Tiernan Mc Gill, Brodie Ferry and Jamie Orr will all be back in action at the Inishowen venue and hoping to be among the winners.

Another young rider making his debut who comes from a very good and traditional family of Racing is Ben Lecky. His uncle Paul was a high class and a champion jockey on multiple occasions and his father Shane Durning has been involved with horse racing for years.

Kian Mc Nally, Adam Grant, Nicola Burns, Dylan O Connor and Sam Coen already have had a few seasons in the saddle and rode a few hundred winners between them and will all be making the long journey.

It’s a seven race card so get along early to avoid delays because the first race is the 2mile open and it is well worth watching.
