Glenties Councillor Michael McClafferty has called out one of his political opponents in the upcoming local elections for releasing and sharing a voice message of the Councillor.
“It has come to my attention that a voice recording of me is circulating,” Cllr McClafferty posted this afternoon.
“Last night, I received a phone call from another local candidate asking for my help, which I believed to be a genuine request. I did not realize that the purpose of the call was to make a joke or mockery out of me.”
Cllr McClafferty has not revealed the identity of which opponent called him and then recorded and released the conversation through social media channels.
“I am extremely disappointed and, to be honest, very disheartened. If candidates are trying to secure votes by making a mockery of others, it is truly a sad day.”
“I have one request: if you have received this voice recording, please delete it. My spirits are already low, and I don’t need to hear it again. It has been reported to the authorities.”
