Eight people have been transferred to hospital, after a flight bound for Ireland suffered severe unexpected turbulence mid-flight.
The incident took place on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Dublin, in the middle of food service – meaning that the seatbelt sign was not on.
According to firsthand accounts, the plane dipped suddenly for around 5 seconds, sending crew members and passengers up into the air.
Emergency vehicles met the flight as it touched down in Dublin, with a number of passengers and crew requiring medical attention.
The incident comes just a week after a similar incident on a Singapore Airlines flight from London left one man dead and several others injured.
