An extension to Finn Valley College in Stranorlar has been given approval to proceed to construction under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme.
The extension will consist of three new classrooms to provide a special class for children with special needs, two special education rooms for one-to-one teaching or group working and three general classrooms.
Welcoming the announcement from the Department of Education, Donegal minister, Charlie McConalogue said: “This is great news for the Twin Towns, and for the staff, students and parents of Finn Valley College.
“I’d like to acknowledge the efforts of Minister Norma Foley in relation to getting the extension to construction stage and thank Cllr Patrick McGowan for his ongoing work with this project.”
Minister McConalogue also welcomed confirmation from the Department of Education that it has granted approval for the reconfiguration of an existing classroom to be used as a science lab and prep area at Crana College in Buncrana to go to tender.
“Cllr Rena Donaghy and local election candidate, Fionán Bradley have been to the fore in helping advance this application.
“They are also giving strong support towards the delivery of the three-school campus at Crana College,” the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine added.
