Fundraiser launched to buy defibrillators for Twin Towns

A fundraiser has been launched seeking to purchase defibrillator units for the Twin Towns.

Aiden Thompson started the fundraising campaign for the three public access units to be bought and placed across Ballybofey and Stranorlar.

As a registered paramedic and an instructor with the Irish Heart Foundation, Aiden has experience with just how effective these machines can be in saving lives.

“Every day in Ireland, 12–15 people will go into cardiac arrest outside of the hospital, and the sooner we recognise this event and commence CPR while someone else gets a defibrillator to the casualty, the greater the chances of survival,” Aiden posted on the fundraising page.

“By having publicly accessible defibrillators, we can try to keep a casualty alive while the emergency services are on their way.”

“Let’s make Ballybofey and Stranorlar a safer environment for our families and friends. These machines really do make a difference, and by supporting this cause, so can you!”
