Beach party invites Swifties to shake it off for RNLI!

Taylor Swift fans will be flocking to Portsalon beach this Saturday 10th August for a fundraiser like no other.

The iconic beach, which the superstar visited in 2021, will be the location for a dance party in aid of the Lough Swilly RNLI.

From 12noon, don your favourite Swift-inspired outfit, dust off those dancing shoes, and head to the beach to enjoy the biggest hits. There will be spot prizes for the biggest Swifties, including a chance to recreate Taylor’s iconic photo she posted to Instagram from Portsalon.

Every penny raised through our bucket collection will go towards supporting the RNLI as part of a full-day itinerary of events.

Portsalon Community including Michael Alcorn and Seamus Martin who were rescued by Lough Swilly Lifeboat crew a few weeks ago, are hosting an all-day Fundraising event this Saturday 10th August.  The fun starts with a Walk & Swim on Portsalon Beach, meet at the Car Park 10.30am.

Following Taylor Swift themed music and activities at 12noon, the events move to the Lighthouse Tavern, Fanad Head for the evening where a Table Quiz starts at 8pm followed by an evening of music and song, with a bumper raffle. The Quiz is 5€ per head or Teams of Four for 20€. Volunteers will again be shaking the buckets for the later entertainment.

Organisers said: “As a coastal community we are fortunate to have a Lifesaving Station on our Lough so we would encourage the community to come out and support our Lough Swilly Lifeboats as the RNLI mark two hundred years of saving lives at Sea this year. It’s a service none of us would hope to use but as Seamus and Michael can verify it’s the only call to make when the sea catches you out.”
