Ann-Marie McGlynn takes second place in Belfast Half Marathon

Letterkenny Athletic Club star Ann-Marie McGlynn arrived in second place in the Belfast City Half-Marathon women’s race, crossing the line in an outstanding time of 1:13:54.

McGlynn (pictured above, left) won the event last year in a time of 1:14:53.

LAC members would like to convey their condolences to the family and friends of Jimmy Gildea on his recent passing.   Jimmy was held in high regard in the club as a competitor, a club-person and a friend.

In the Loreto Convent 5k 2024 LAC’s Emma Bonar enjoyed a podium finish when she finished in 2nd place in an excellent time of 19:36 followed in 3rd place by Eimear Gormley in 20:07.

Peter Gallagher ran 20:44, Paul Toner 21:12, Michael Mooney 22:03, Paul Lee 23:12, Ray McDermott 23:13, Mark McFadden 23:54, Frank Pinder 24:07, Alicia

McNulty 24:27, Liam Wiseman 25:31, Richard Raymond 26:18 Mary Higgins 30:00, Linda Cronin 30:11, Noreen Pinder 34:26, Mary Martin 36:24 while Angela McGee ran 36:51.

LAC athletes performed very well in Sligo last weekend in the Coast 2 Coast 10 mile road race on Sunday. The scenic run took the participants from Strandhill to Rosses Point.

In a statement race by Michael Harkin, he ran an outstanding time of 59:05 followed closely by Enda McLaughlin in 60:33. Clive Monahan ran 67:20, Mark O’Donnell ran 68:22, Eamonn McEldowney ran 68:57, Derek Campbell ran 71:50 while Robert Kavanagh ran 72:38.

Congratulation to Ann-Marie McGlynn on finishing in second place in 1:13:54 in the Belfast Half Marathon women’s race which was held on Sunday.

Well done to Ann-Marie and also to Gary Kearns who clocked a superb time of 1:36:07 while Conor McDaid ran 1:58.33.

The gruelling Seven Sisters Skyline Adventure race took place last weekend. The adventure race was staged in Dunlewey.  Competitors battled with challenging mountainous runs and LAC’s Liam Tinney and Patrick Brennan performed very well in a strong field.

LAC’s A.G.M. will take place this Wednesday the 25th September 2024 at 7.30pm in the Station House Hotel.

All members are encouraged to attend.

LAC host running sessions from the Aura Leisure Centre on a Tuesday at 5.15pm and 6.30pm for interval running sessions, a Thursday evening hill run at 6pm, Saturday mornings at 9.30am for a tempo run and Sunday mornings at 8am for a long run.

Fit 4 Life which is run by LAC in conjunction with the Donegal Sports Partnership takes place every Monday at 6pm on the track at the Aura Leisure Centre Letterkenny.
