100% Redress Party to make “People’s Document” core of General Election push

The 100% Redress Party says that the People’s Document will form the core of their General Election campaign.

They are expected to put forward a candidate in Donegal for the upcoming General Election in the next few months.

It comes after a rousing success in the Council elections earlier this year saw four 100% Redress candidates elected – Joy Beard and Ali Farren in Inishowen, Tomás Seán Devine in Letterkenny-Milford, and Denis McGee in Glenties.

Chair of the 100% Redress Party’s Executive Committee, Tomás Seán Devine, says that the party’s foundational “People’s Document” will form part of their election strategy, as they call on other political parties to endorse it.

“Since launching The People’s Document in March 2024, we have been at the forefront of this initiative, being the only party to formally endorse it by reaching out to Michael Doherty. We have also actively pushed for the inclusion of property owners in Northern Ireland,” Cllr Devine said.

The document is centred around the “4 Ps” – Property, with affected properties being rebuilt like for like at no cost to the homeowner and to current standards, Process, calling for an end to end scheme by the State, with self-build opt out available, People and Support, calling for no one to be left behind, and Prevention – that such a crisis never happens again.

Further in a statement, Cllr Denis McGee added that “Failure to support The People’s Document jeopardizes essential services in our communities. We risk the closure of care homes, childcare facilities, shops, hotels, and GAA clubs. As the election date approaches, we will urge all political parties to commit to its implementation.”

Meanwhile 100% Redress Party representative Charles Ward says that with the General Election upcoming, the party will finalize its decision on potential TD candidates in the coming weeks; “It’s imperative that any decision we make prioritizes the interests of all those affected by defective concrete,” Mr Ward said.
