Cameras have started rolling on an exciting new short film by Gaoth Dobhair actress and screenwriter,  Brídín Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh.

Babaí Brain is the first film to emerge from TG4’s new Irish-language talent initiative, Céim Eile.

This exciting production is taking place in the scenic village of An Spidéal, Connemara, and marks a significant milestone in the Irish-language film industry.

Tthe director for the project is Nikolaj Feifer, best known as the creator and director of the Netflix hit Baby Fever.  His involvement brings an exciting international element to the production, blending local talent with global expertise.

Written by and starring Brídín Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh, Babaí Brain is described as a ‘chick flick’ for 18-35 year olds with its engaging characters and contemporary themes.

The film is being produced by Fíbín Media, with Ciarán Charles Ó Conghaile serving as producer.

Filming for Babaí Brain will continue for the rest of the week in Connemara, with a release expected next year.

Máire Uí Choisdealbha, Commissioning Editor at TG4, commented: “We are thrilled to see the first production from Céim Eile come to life with Babaí Brain. This initiative is all about giving new and emerging Irish-speaking talent the opportunity to tell their stories, and we couldn’t be prouder of the team involved. The combination of fresh writing, experienced production, and an international director like Nikolaj Feifer is a fantastic start for the scheme.”
