There will be intermittent rain and drizzle moving in across Ulster this morning, with heavier bursts of rain pushing in from the west this afternoon.

The rain will gradually clear eastwards this evening. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds. There is the continuing possibility of coastal flooding due to very high tides.

The rain will clear early tonight to leave it generally dry with clear spells and just a few showers. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in moderate southwest breezes. There is the continuing possibility of coastal flooding due to very high tides.

Tomorrow will be dry and bright for most of the day with sunny spells and just a few passing showers. However, cloud will build from the south through the afternoon and evening. Maximum temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in moderate southwest winds. There is the continuing possibility of coastal flooding due to very high tides.

Weather Alert

Met Éireann has issued a ‘moderate’ weekend wind weather alert for Donegal has warned of the possibility of flooding in coastal areas.

The State meteorological service said ‘exceptionally high supermoon spring tides’ could make coastal flooding possible around the county. It has also issued wind warnings for Saturday night and into Sunday.

The alert is valid from this morning until midnight on Saturday.

“We are monitoring another low-pressure system which could undergo rapid deepening on Saturday with the potential for strong winds and potentially a named storm; however, uncertainty still exists about this event,” a spokesperson for Met Éireann said.
