Termon began their Under 21A championship campaign with a hard earned victory over St.Eunans at O’Donnell Park, Letterkenny, in very difficult windy and wet conditions.

Two early goals by Cormac Gallagher and Gary McGettigan set them on their way against a Eunans team that found scores very hard to come by in the first-half but fought back well in the second to make a real game of it.                                                 It took until the 11th minute until we had the game’s first score, a fine point by Philip Doherty for St.Eunans. Within a minute, we had a brilliant reply from Termon as Cormac Gallagher picked up possession 50 mtrs from goal, holding off a number of tackles before shooting to the net from close range – a super individual goal.

Three minutes later Termon almost had a second, but Oran Gallagher was denied by an excellent save from Callum Crampsie.

But as Termon began to take control, that second goal arrived in the nineteenth minute. Gary McGettigan finished well after Oran Gallagher had pounced on a defensive error to set him up to make it 2-00 to 0-01 for the visitors.                                         That’s how things remained until half-time, although Termon had another great chance of a third goal when Oran Gallagher set up Ciaran Cassidy close to goal. However, his goalbound shot was scrambled off the goal line by a defender for a big let-off for the home team.

Jack Gallagher and David Boyle both pointed from play for Eunans early in the second-half. But Gary McGettigan quickly replied for Termon but then Jack Gallagher hit 1-01 in the next two Eunans attacks and the teams were level at 1-04 to 2-01 and game on.

Evan Keown put Termon ahead but a fine Philip Doherty point had them back on level terms again. Sub Luke McGarvey restored Termon’s lead, but two David Boyle frees had Eunans ahead for the time of the game, 1-07 to 2-03.                                Oisín Harkin’s free, however, brought Termon back level and John James Sweeney converted another free to put them ahead and guarantee the victory.
