The Kilcar man killed in a work tragedy in Australia earlier this month will be laid to rest today.

Barry Breslin died while he was undertaking roadworks on the outskirts of Perth on October 3 last.

The 35-year-old had been living Down Under for a number of years and was engaged with a young son.

He was originally from Straleel in Kilcar but had moved to Australia in 2011.

Barry was rushed to hospital following the accident earlier this month but tragically died a short time later.

A memorial service for Barry was organised by his devastated fiancée Melissa Taheny and was attended by hundreds of people.

Known by his friends as ‘Duke’, Barry played underage football with Kilcar and was hugely popular both in Australia and back at home in Donegal.

He was a loving father to his son Tommy, aged 3.

His funeral mass will take place today at 11am in St Cartha’s Church in Kilcar with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

His funeral notice reads: “Beloved father to his son Tommy. Sadly missed by his loving fiancée, Melissa, his parents Mary and Seamus, his brothers Owen (Beth & Hazel) and Shane (Gerard), his grandmother, Mary Ann (Byrne), his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, many friends and neighbours.”
