A 15-year-old Inishowen boy finished in third place at the ISKA World Kickboxing Championships in Austria at the weekend.

Impressively, Liam Grant from Buncrana was the youngest of all the 24 competitors in his 60 kg category. He won back-to-back fights, with just 7-10 minute breaks in between bouts.

He described the experience and atmosphere as ‘amazing’ and scores of family and friends met Liam when he came back to Buncrana yesterday and escorted around the town.

The talented 15-year-old trains at the Strike Martial Arts Academy in Derry.

Grant also acknowledged the invaluable support of his team at Strike, his coach Pinta, and his sponsors. He thanked Jonny Morrison PT for his strength and conditioning training, CS Injury Clinic and Remedial Massage for their full-body massages, The Rabbit Hole, and E17 Sportswear for providing him with sports gear.
