Donegal ETB Golf Society’s 3rd outing of the 2024/25 season took them to the wonderful setting of Cloughaneely Golf Club on the outskirts of Falcarragh.

For many of our members this was our first excursion to Cloughaneely and what a wonderful day’s golfing we had in this “Hidden Gem” of a Golf Course.

We had three beginners, Anne Barron, Catherine Cannon and Mary McGrath, all making their ETB Society debut after receiving a few lessons organised by our Captain Myles Sweeney. We want to congratulate them and indeed all the other beginners who are availing of the lessons as they embark on their golfing journey and look forward to meeting them at a future outing.

The format for this outing was a Champagne Scramble with 3 players on each team and the best 2 scores to count at each hole.

1 st place went to Paddy McDaid, Marcel McCafferty and John McIvor with a very impressive 81pts.

2 nd place went to John Bosco Gallagher, Kevin McDevitt and Paddy Kelly on 74pts.

After three events in the Golfer of the Year Table, Paddy McDaid leads on 56 pts followed in 2 nd place by Aidan Guthrie on 42pts. Éanna Ó Mainín and Patsy McVicar complete the top 4 with 38pts each.

In the Mary Ann Kane Memorial Magnificent 7 Signature Competition, Eamonn McDonnell, Captain Myles Sweeney and Paddy McDaid all sit on 6pts followed closely by Aidan Guthrie on 5pts.

Special thanks to all in Cloughaneely Golf Club and the staff at the Strand Road Bar and Restaurant for their hospitality throughout the day.

So that concludes our outings for 2024. Our next outing is in Donegal Golf Club Murvagh on Sat 4 th January 2025.
