Buncrana’s celebrity chef Kwanghi Chan has landed a major deal to stock his spices in Tesco supermarkets.

Chan’s ‘East by Kwanghi’ products have been rebranded and now available on the shelves in 58 stores nationwide.

The Spice Bag Seasoning, along with the bold Mala Black Garlic Peanut Rayu condiment, bring restaurant-quality flavours into the home kitchen, perfect for adding excitement to everyday meals.

‘East by Kwanghi’ was crafted by Chan for home cooks who want to explore Asian-inspired flavours with confidence.

Kwanghi was born in Hong Kong and raised in Buncrana and from the age of 8, he was helping out in the family restaurant kitchen.

Kwanghi was Head Chef at the 5* Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore Co.Waterford since late 2011- working at the 1* Michelin “House Restaurant” gaining 4 AA Rosettes in 2014.

After spending over 3 ½ years as Head Chef at the Michelin starred Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore under Dutch star chef Martjin Kajutier, in 2015 he stormed onto the scene in Dublin with Soder+Ko, a hip collaboration between a Scandi bar and Kwanghi’s fine fusion cooking.

In 2016 he started ChanChan, making products that supply into food services and selling in supermarkets and selected award-winning artisan food stores across Ireland.

His latest restaurant concept is Bites by Kwanghi, which began as a food truck and now has a home in the Docklands in Dublin.

Grocery Buying Manager for Tesco Ireland, Jenni Fisher welcomed the addition of the rebranded East by Kwanghi range and said: “This range offers premium, restaurant-quality sauces and condiments to our customers all over the country. We are proud to support this brilliant local producer and to have another high quality Irish-made product in our ever improving range.”
