A prize-winning artwork by a 6-year-old Donegal boy has been chosen to illustrate the 2025 Texaco Children’s Art Competition Calendar just published.

The talented Charles (Dominic) Gallagher is a pupil at St. Mary’s National School, Castlefin.

From thousands of entries, his piece entitled ‘Moving Oceans’ was just one of 13 artworks selected for the publication.

It will appear during the month of July and will be seen in thousands of homes throughout Ireland during the coming year.

Winning second prize in the 6 years and under age category of this year’s 70th competition, his artwork was described by Final Adjudicator, Gary Granville, Professor Emeritus of Education at the National College of Art and Design as one in which “the artist uses simple, strong and expressive strokes”.

This is the second year he made the cut for the calendar.

The 2024 calendars are currently available through a select number of Texaco service stations and through Texoil, Valero’s own home heating oil division.
