Donegal’s Mark English got his 2025 season off to a strong start in France this weekend.

He took second place in his season debut at the Meeting de Nantes Metropole, in the city of Nantes in the west of the country.

English ran a strong 800m time of 1:46.4, just two tenths behind eventual winner and U23 European Champion Yanis Meziane of France.

Mark’s Finn Valley AC clubmate Sommer Lecky also claimed a podium finish in the high jump at the same meet in Nantes, making it a successful weekend for the Donegal athletes making the trip across to France.
