Abbey VS 2-05 v 0-12 St Patrick’s Maghera

Abbey Vocational School from Donegal Town fell just short in a spirited performance in the MacRory Cup Final today.

The boys from Donegal were aiming to become the first Donegal team to lift the trophy – however their opponents from Derry came out on top on the day.

Abbey were well up for the contest, held at Celtic Park in Derry, and this gripping game came down to the final possession as Abbey had a number of late scores to stay in the contest.

Five additional minutes were played after two Maghera players collided, giving Abbey the chance to shrink a three point deficit just just one – but it wasn’t quite enough.

Two goals from Conor McCahill in the early moments of the game, and a gritty performance can leave the Donegal boys holding their heads high as they travel home.
