Gary Boyle’s Donegal Under 20 squad produced another impressive performance to reach the Ulster Championship Under 20 Final where they will meet reigning Ulster and All Ireland champions Tyrone next Wednesday evening.
Donegal 4-19 v 2-07 Cavan
Despite conceding an early goal against Cavan at MacCumhaill Park this evening Donegal ran out easy winners by eighteen points.
Three first-half goals by Conor McCahill, top scorer Seanan Carr from a twice taken penalty and another from the impressive Cian McMenamin had Donegal in complete control at halftime, leading by 3-09 to 1-02 and very much on their way to the final.
They added 1-10 in the second-half with Carr kicking some fine frees and sub Dylan Mulholland adding a fourth goal to secure a final clash with Tyrone who they beat in the Group section of the Championship.
In Owenbeg this evening goals again made the difference as Tyrone beat Derry by 3-12 to 0-19 points to set up a rematch with Donegal in the final.
Senior County player Finbarr Roarty came off the bench in the second-half and added a point to Donegal’s total.
The venue for next Wednesday’s Final will be confirmed by the Ulster Council with Celtic Park in Derry a strong possibility.
