The next meeting of the Ballybofey, Stranorlar & District Historical Society takes place next Monday in The Henderson Hall, Stranorlar, at 8pm.
This month there will be a fascinating talk and presentation on local placenames and maps.
The lecture will be given by Daragh McDonough, a mapping and GIS expert with Donegal County Council. He will be taking a look at maps of the area and field names.
Paddy Doherty will also be bringing some old maps and sharing knowledge of local people that he has interviewed about field names. If you have any knowledge about local field names you would be very welcome.
There will be a cup of tea and a chat after tonight’s meeting, and is always very enjoyable
This free event starts at 8pm in Henderson Hall, Stranorlar (F93 XV29).
Membership of this group is rising all the time, so if you are interested in local history, come and join us.
Meetings and talks take place on the fourth Monday of the month.
