One Donegal motorist was caught at 40 kp/h over the speed limit as Gardaí are urging people to slow down and drive sensibly this Bank Holiday Weekend.
Gardaí say that over 600 drivers nationwide have already been caught speeding as part of their Bank Holiday Weekend road safety operations.
The Donegal driver was caught doing 120 km/h in an 80 km/h zone, one of the worst speeding instances so far this weekend.
Others included a driver caught doing 109km/h in a 60km/h Zone in Dublin 24, and another motorist who was detected at a speed of 145km/h in a 100km/h zone in Roscommon.
“This long weekend there are more road users out on the roads than usual whether out walking, cycling or driving to go see loved ones. We urge you to please slow down, do not drive while under the influence and please keep your focus on the road,” Gardaí said in a statement.
