Slimming World members and consultants from across Donegal have raised over €10,000 for the Irish Cancer Society.
The money was raised as part of a yearly initiative by Slimming World in association with the cancer society – The Big Slimming World Clothes Throw.
Donegal Slimming World consultants AnneMarie, Marie, Catherine, Michelle and Kellie got together to organise the event, with calls put out to members to bag up and donate any of their unwanted clothes, shoes, handbags and household items.
Members from groups in Buncrana, Newtowncunningham, Letterkenny, Kerrykeel and Gweedore all took part in the fundraiser, filling bags of unwanted clothes and items – with the Irish Cancer Society placing a value of €25 on each donated bag.
All-in-all, 430 full bags of donations were given to the Irish Cancer Society from Donegal’s Slimming World members – filling up two vans’ worth with their supplies!
“Cancer touches us all if not directly then indirectly through our friends and family, for us to be able to give something back to those who help, support and look for cures means the world,” Slimming World Donegal said.
“Each bag you filled will make a difference and from the bottom of our hearts we thank you all. In monetary terms this equates to approximately €10,750.”
