A grant of €65,000 the provision of fences, score boards, goal posts and dugouts has been allocated to Dungloe GAA Club at the club’s new pitch.
Local Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher TD, has confirmed the grant has been approved by Gaeltacht Minister Dara Calleary TD, for CLG An Clochán Liath.
The overall development is at an advanced stage and a number of works are already completed to date.
They include a lighted walkway around the pitch with access to the riverbank, stone fill and the surface has been sown.
It is expected that the first match will be played in spring 2026.
The club has received grants to date from Leader, Clar, Sports Capital, and a previous grant from Roinn na Gaeltachta.
The club have held numerous fundraising events and made a substantial contribution from own resources towards the overall development.
Deputy Gallagher was high in his praise of the development committee, the language and culture committee and the club executive for the contribution made by them in respect of the overall development.
“This development will be a major benefit to the club, its members, players and the general public,” said Deputy Gallagher.
Pat the Cope Gallagher thanked Minister Calleary for his prompt response to his representations shortly after his appointment. He also thanked the officials from his Department.
