GAA fans travelling to Ballybofey for tomorrow’s All-Ireland Preliminary Quarter-Final against Louth have been told to expect traffic delays by Gardaí and organisers.
Throw-in at MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey is at 4pm, but fans are being asked to be mindful of long delays that are likely when getting to and from the ground, in part due to the influx of traffic to the county from those attending the Donegal International Rally also.
In a statement, Gardaí said that “While we endeavour to assist traffic movement as much as possible, the large numbers attending this event and the Donegal International Rally will result in unavoidable delays. Adding additional time for your journey is highly advisable.”
They have outlined instructions for supporters who are driving to the game tomorrow also:
“Parking will be available in several car parks around the town. Please utilise these areas fully. We ask all persons attending the game to please park responsibly.”
“Do not park in a manner that causes obstruction to footpaths, private entrances or that obstructs the free flow of traffic. Any vehicles found to be causing an obstruction will be subject to fixed charge notices as necessary and may be towed. This is to ensure a free flow of traffic for everyone pre and post match.”
“Only vehicles authorised by Donegal GAA will be permitted access to car park at Mac Cumhaill Park main entrance.”
“Limited parking for Blue Badge holders is available at car park at stand entrance (behind Villa Rose hotel). Vehicle access to this car park is via Back Road at Jackson’s Hotel. Once this area is full there will be no vehicle access to this area. There is limited disabled parking availability on the Main Street and in car parks in the vicinity of the grounds.”
“Please follow directions from Gardaí, security staff and stewards in the area. We hope that everyone has an enjoyable day and we wish both teams the best of luck.”
