Declan Cunningham rolls back the years to lift Pat Rawdon Cup

Declan Cunningham rolled back the years to lift the Pat Rawdon cup for the second time last weekend.

This bridged a 14 year gap from his last win following an epic final victory over the inform Dean Gallagher in a match that rounded off a fantastic day of darts in The Bay View, Killybegs. Declan (main pic) also had a big win in the semis where he beat defending champion Ciaran McGeady 5-4 while Dean beat Sam Wray 5-3 in his semi-final. While the quarters involved all top names in darts and all four matches were of the highest standard. Highest checkout of the day was a 156 by James Byrne.

Shield

In the shield completion which involved the first round of the Pat Rawdon Cup losers it was young Conor Hogg from Fermanagh who rounded of his remarkable day by clinching the shield following on from his youth competition win earlier, he played 10 matches over all his only defeat was to Adrian Byrne and dropped only seven legs in the three competitions a record and achievement that will be hard to beat. In the final he defeated Martin McMenemin, while in the semis Conor beat Danny Doohan 4-1 while Martin beat local favourite Irwin Muirhead also 4-1.

Youths

In the youth tournament sponsored by The Fleet Inn it was Conor Hogg from Fermanagh who came out on top and without dropping a leg in his five matches and he had a 108 check out in his final win over Shay Murray, we had 21 youths in total and it’s great to see so many young people playing darts again!
