A woman has been barred from 10 stores in Donegal by a District Court judge.
Tina Connors, who appeared before Letterkenny District Court, was ordered to stay out of Homesavers, H&M, TK Maxx, Kelly’s Centra, Holland and Barrett, McFadden’s Pharmacy, Lloyd’s Pharmacy and Boots Pharmacy in Letterkenny as well as Lidl and McElhinney’s Stores in Ballybofey.
Connors, a 27-year-old of Canal Road, Letterkenny, was before Judge Éiteáin Cunningham on theft charges.
Garda Neil Kemmy gave evidence of arresting Connors at 10.10am on July 8, 2025..
Connors was conveyed to Letterkenny Garda Station, where she told officers in reply to one charge: “I don’t remember.”
Connors made no reply to the other charge, the court heard.
Sergeant Jim Collins outlined the incidents to the court after Connors tendered guilty pleas.
On April 6, 2025 at 5.35pm, Connors entered Dealz and stole various clothing items valued at €200. Connors placed the items in bags and passed all points without paying. The items were not recovered, the court was told.
On May 20, 2015 at 4.35pm, Connors entered Homesavers, Pearse Road, Letterkenny and took a number of clothing and beauty items, worth a total of €68.60, before leaving the store without paying. The incident was captured on CCTV.
Sergeant Collins said there was an objection to bail due to what he called a “continued pattern of non-appearance”.
Mr Patsy Gallagher, solicitor for Connors, asked that his client be released on bail and with a short adjournment.
Sergeant Collins suggested that if the accused was being released, it should be on cash bail, but Mr Gallagher said that this would prove to be a difficulty.
Judge Cunningham said that Connors was “on thin ice”, but said she would grant bail with very strict conditions.
Telling Connors that she must turn up for each and every remand, Judge Cunningham said: “There is no room for error.”
Connors was granted bail in her own bond of €200 nil cash. She was ordered to commit no further offence and be of good behaviour. She is to be contactable 24-7 by An Garda Síochána and was ordered to stay out of a list of stores.
Judge Cunningham directed that a probation and welfare report be prepared on Connors and adjourned the case.
