The Donegal Airport 5K on a glorious evening in Carrickfinn proved a tremendous success with 249 taking part. A fundraiser for the North West Cancer Support Group, donations amounted to a staggering 4300 euros. A big thank you to all who took part, who gave donations, who collected donations, to the Rosses Athletic Club whose officials did a great job in organising the event, and to Donegal Airport for hosting the event. And what about Margaret Mc Fadden – at 84 years of age the oldest person to do the 5K. The proceeds were presented to Mary Mc Ginley by Mark Nicolas and Ita Gallagher. Maith sibh uilig. The Masters Athletics Championship’s took place in Tullamore on saturday last and there was 3 Gold medals for Rosses athletes. Gold for Aidan Gillespie in the High Jump and Long Jump in the V2 category. Gold for Derek Gillespie in the High Jump in the V1 category and bronze in the Long Jump. It is hoped to begin cross training training shortly so please watch for details. There is a 5k organised for Sunday 2nd Sept with registration at McDevitts Garage, Annagry from 12 and race starts at 1:30pm.
