September 18, 2017

A woman who stole t-shirts and a handbag worth a total of €65 from Dunnes Stores has been ordered to keep the peace for 12 months.

Mary McDonagh, aged 20, appeared at Letterkenny District Court charged with the thefts on June 22nd last at Dunnes Stores, Oldtown, Letterkenny.

The court heard Gardai were called, viewed CCTV footage and called to the home of Ms McDonagh.

They recovered t-shirts worth €35 and a handbag worth €30.

She admitted the thefts.

The court heard that Ms McDonagh had one previous conviction for a similar offence for which she received an adult caution.

Solicitor Frank Dorrian told the court that this was an “impulsive act” and Ms McDonagh was a married but separated woman of very limited means.

Judge Paul Kelly ordered Ms McDonagh to keep the peace for one year.
