Man pleads guilty to stealing €315,000 from supermarket

A man who stole more than €315,000 from a Ballybofey Supermarket has appeared in court.

Wayne Johnston, appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court today charged with misappropriating the cash from Cost Cutter.

He is charged with dishonestly misappropriating €315,303 cash from Cost Cutter, Ballybofey, belonging to Michael Doherty on a date unknown between February 1 2010 and January 31, 2011 contrary to Section 4 of the Theft Act.

The defendant was remanded on bail to the next sitting of the circuit court.

Defence Counsel Colm Smyth asked for a Probation Report and a psychiatric evaluation of the defendant.

John Aylmer agreed to the request and adjournment.
