JUDGE INVITES DONEGAL STUDENTS AND GROUPS TO VISIT COURTS

A leading Judge has again pleaded with schools and other organisations to arrange a trip to the local courthouse to see the workings of the legal system.

Judge John O’Hagan was speaking after answering questions from visiting students from the Law Degree Course at Letterkenny Institute of Technology.

The students of various ages, including one retired Garda, were guests of the sitting of yesterday’s sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court.

Judge O’Hagan said he was anxious to schools and any other organisations see the working of the courts.

He answered questions about his own time as a solicitor, then barrister before coming a Judge in 1998.

He also asked members of the courts service including Chief Court Clerk of he Donegal Circuit Court, Ms Margaret Sharkey, to explain their roles.

Judge O’Hagan said anybody interested in arranging a trip to the courts should contact the courts service.
